那靈停住，我卻不能辨其形狀；有形像在我眼前。我在靜默中聽見有聲音：

有哪些百姓聽見上帝在火中說話的聲音，像你聽見了還能存活呢？

他回答我說：「這是耶和華指示所羅巴伯的話。萬軍之耶和華說：不是倚靠勢力，不是倚靠才能，乃是倚靠我的靈方能成事。

看哪，我不用威嚴恐嚇你，也不用勢力重壓你。

那時，你們近前來，站在山下；山上有火燃燒，直沖天頂，並有黑暗、密雲、幽暗。耶和華從火焰中對你們說話，你們聽見說話的聲音，只有聲音，卻沒有看見形像。

耶和華在他面前經過，宣告：「耶和華，耶和華，有憐憫，有恩惠的上帝，不輕易發怒，且有豐盛的慈愛和信實，

耶和華的使者在荊棘的火焰中向他顯現。摩西觀看，看哪，荊棘在火中焚燒，卻沒有燒燬。

因為我們的上帝是吞滅的火。

日落天黑的時候，看哪，有冒煙的爐和燒着的火把從那些肉塊中經過。

忽然，有響聲從天上下來，好像一陣大風吹過，充滿了他們所坐的整座屋子；

於是，耶和華降下火來，燒盡燔祭、木柴、石頭、塵土，又燒乾了溝裏的水。

以利亞回答五十夫長說：「我若是神人，願火從天上降下來，吞滅你和你的五十個人！」於是有火從天上降下來，吞滅五十夫長和他的五十個人。

故此，以色列全家當確實知道，你們釘在十字架上的這位耶穌，上帝已經立他為主，為基督了。」眾人聽見這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：「諸位弟兄，我們該怎樣做呢？」

他們邊走邊說話的時候，看哪，有火馬和火焰車出現，把二人隔開，以利亞就乘旋風升天去了。
