那灵停住，我却不能辨其形状；有形像在我眼前。我在静默中听见有声音：

有哪些百姓听见神在火中说话的声音，像你听见了还能存活呢？

他回答我说：“这是耶和华指示所罗巴伯的话。万军之耶和华说：不是倚靠势力，不是倚靠才能，乃是倚靠我的灵方能成事。

看哪，我不用威严恐吓你，也不用势力重压你。

那时，你们近前来，站在山下；山上有火燃烧，直冲天顶，并有黑暗、密云、幽暗。耶和华从火焰中对你们说话，你们听见说话的声音，只有声音，却没有看见形像。

耶和华在他面前经过，宣告：“耶和华，耶和华，有怜悯，有恩惠的神，不轻易发怒，且有丰盛的慈爱和信实，

耶和华的使者在荆棘的火焰中向他显现。摩西观看，看哪，荆棘在火中焚烧，却没有烧毁。

因为我们的神是吞灭的火。

日落天黑的时候，看哪，有冒烟的炉和烧着的火把从那些肉块中经过。

忽然，有响声从天上下来，好像一阵大风吹过，充满了他们所坐的整座屋子；

于是，耶和华降下火来，烧尽燔祭、木柴、石头、尘土，又烧干了沟里的水。

以利亚回答五十夫长说：“我若是神人，愿火从天上降下来，吞灭你和你的五十个人！”于是有火从天上降下来，吞灭五十夫长和他的五十个人。

故此，以色列全家当确实知道，你们钉在十字架上的这位耶稣，神已经立他为主，为基督了。”众人听见这话，觉得扎心，就对彼得和其余的使徒说：“诸位弟兄，我们该怎样做呢？”

他们边走边说话的时候，看哪，有火马和火焰车出现，把二人隔开，以利亚就乘旋风升天去了。
