那微風停住。我卻不能辨認其形狀。有形像在我眼前；我聽見有低微的聲音說：

有哪一族之民曾聽見一位神在火中講話的聲音，像你那樣聽見、還能活着呢？

他應聲告訴我說：『這是永恆主的話、向所羅巴伯說的：萬軍之永恆主說；不是依靠權勢，不是倚靠能力，乃是倚靠我的靈。

啊，別讓懼怕我的心使你驚惶呀！我必不將壓力重加於你。

那時你們走近前來，站在山下；山上有火燒着，火燄沖到天中心，又有黑暗、密雲、暗霧。永恆主從火中對你們講話；你們聽見聲音，卻沒有看見形像；只有聲音而已。

永恆主在他面前經過，宣告說：『永恆主耶和華，有憐憫有恩惠的上帝，不輕易發怒，而有豐盛的堅愛和忠信，

永恆主的使者從刺叢中火燄裏向他顯現。摩西一看，只見刺叢在火中燒着，而刺叢竟沒有被燒燬！

因為我們的上帝乃是燬滅的火。

日落時、天黑壓壓，忽有冒煙的手提爐子、和燒𤏲的火把、從那些肉塊中經過。

驀然間有響聲從天上來、像猛烈的風颳着的響聲，充滿了他們所坐的整個屋子。

於是永恆主的火便降下來，燒盡了燔祭、木柴、石頭、塵土，又把溝裏的水都餂燒乾了。

以利亞回答五十夫長、說：『我，我若是神人，那麼願火從天上降下來、燒滅你和你那五十人。』於是有火從天上降下來、燒滅了五十夫長和他那五十人。

『這樣看來，以色列全家都應當確實地知道，你們釘十字架的這位耶穌、上帝已經立他、不但做主，而且做上帝所膏立者基督了。』眾人聽了，心裏被扎，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：『同人弟兄們，我們應當怎樣行？』

他們正走着說話的時候，忽有火車火馬將二人分開，以利亞就乘着旋風升天去了。
