After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

那靈停住，我無法辨認其模樣。眼前出現一個形狀，寂靜中聽見有聲音說，

有哪個民族像你們一樣，聽見了上帝在火中說話，還活了下來？

他對我說：「這是耶和華對所羅巴伯講的話。萬軍之耶和華說，『不靠權勢，不靠才能，乃靠我的靈。

所以你不用懼怕我，我不會對你施加壓力。

你們來到山腳下，站在那裡，山上烈焰沖天、烏雲密佈、極其幽暗。耶和華在火焰中對你們說話，你們只聽見祂的聲音，卻看不見祂的形像。

耶和華在摩西面前經過，並且宣告說：「我是耶和華，我是耶和華，是有憐憫和恩典的上帝，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛，無比信實，

忽然有耶和華的天使在荊棘裡的火焰中向他顯現。摩西看見荊棘雖然在燃燒，卻沒有被燒毀。

因為我們的上帝是烈火。

太陽下山後，大地黑暗，突然有冒煙的火爐和點著的火炬在肉塊中經過。

忽然，天上發出一陣響聲，好像狂風呼嘯而過，充滿了他們所在的房子，

於是，耶和華降火燒盡了祭物、木柴、石頭、塵土，甚至溝裡的水。

以利亞說：「我若是上帝的僕人，願火從天降下燒死你和你的五十個部下。」火立刻從天降下，燒死了五十夫長和他的五十個部下。

「所以，全體以色列人啊！你們應當確實地知道，上帝已經立這位被你們釘在十字架上的耶穌為主，為基督了。」他們聽了彼得的話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他使徒說：「弟兄們，我們該怎麼辦呢？」

他們邊走邊談，忽然有火馬拉的火車把他們二人隔開，以利亞乘著旋風升上了天。
