第二天中午，他們快要到達約帕時，彼得上屋頂去禱告。

主啊，你是公義的，我們今日滿面羞愧，我們猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因對你不忠而被驅散到遠近各地的以色列人都滿面羞愧。

我便禁食，身披麻衣，頭蒙灰塵，向主上帝禱告祈求。

以利亞聽見後，就用外袍蒙著臉出去站在洞口。那聲音問他：「以利亞，你在這裡做什麽？」

約書亞和以色列的長老便撕裂衣服，把灰撒在頭上，俯伏在耶和華的約櫃面前，直到晚上。

現在，你快派人去召集所有的以色列人到迦密山來見我，把巴力的四百五十名先知和耶洗別所供養的四百名亞舍拉的先知也帶來。」亞哈便派人把以色列人和那些先知招聚到迦密山。

希西迦把臉轉向牆，向耶和華禱告，說：

待眾人都離開了，祂就獨自上山去禱告，在那裡一直待到晚上。

在祂上方侍立著撒拉弗天使，他們各有三對翅膀：一對遮臉，一對遮腳，一對飛翔。

祂在眾聖者的會中大受敬畏，祂的威嚴無與倫比。

一天，耶穌到山上整夜向上帝禱告。

所以你們要彼此認罪，互相代禱，好得到醫治。義人的禱告有極大的力量和功效。以利亞先知和我們一樣同是血肉之軀，他懇切地祈求不要下雨，結果三年半沒有下雨。後來他再禱告求雨，天就降雨，地也長出了莊稼。

說：「我的上帝啊，我羞愧難當，不敢抬頭看你，因為我們的惡行滅頂，我們的罪惡滔天。

大衛為這孩子向上帝哀求，並且禁食，他進到裡面，整夜躺在地上。

亞伯拉罕的僕人聽見這話，就俯伏在地上敬拜耶和華，

耶穌往前走了不遠，俯伏在地禱告，如果可以，不要讓那時刻臨到祂。
