第二天中午，他们快要到达约帕时，彼得上屋顶去祷告。

主啊，你是公义的，我们今日满面羞愧，我们犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因对你不忠而被驱散到远近各地的以色列人都满面羞愧。

我便禁食，身披麻衣，头蒙灰尘，向主上帝祷告祈求。

以利亚听见后，就用外袍蒙着脸出去站在洞口。那声音问他：“以利亚，你在这里做什么？”

约书亚和以色列的长老便撕裂衣服，把灰撒在头上，俯伏在耶和华的约柜面前，直到晚上。

现在，你快派人去召集所有的以色列人到迦密山来见我，把巴力的四百五十名先知和耶洗别所供养的四百名亚舍拉的先知也带来。”亚哈便派人把以色列人和那些先知招聚到迦密山。

希西迦把脸转向墙，向耶和华祷告，说：

待众人都离开了，祂就独自上山去祷告，在那里一直待到晚上。

在祂上方侍立着撒拉弗天使，他们各有三对翅膀：一对遮脸，一对遮脚，一对飞翔。

祂在众圣者的会中大受敬畏，祂的威严无与伦比。

一天，耶稣到山上整夜向上帝祷告。

所以你们要彼此认罪，互相代祷，好得到医治。义人的祷告有极大的力量和功效。以利亚先知和我们一样同是血肉之躯，他恳切地祈求不要下雨，结果三年半没有下雨。后来他再祷告求雨，天就降雨，地也长出了庄稼。

说：“我的上帝啊，我羞愧难当，不敢抬头看你，因为我们的恶行灭顶，我们的罪恶滔天。

大卫为这孩子向上帝哀求，并且禁食，他进到里面，整夜躺在地上。

亚伯拉罕的仆人听见这话，就俯伏在地上敬拜耶和华，

耶稣往前走了不远，俯伏在地祷告，如果可以，不要让那时刻临到祂。
