Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Your name shall be Israel.”

Elijah got 12 stones. There was one for each tribe in the family line of Jacob. The Lord’ s message had come to Jacob. It had said,“ Your name will be Israel.”

Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord came, saying,“ Israel shall be your name,”

He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel,

他们直到如今仍照先前的风俗去行，不专心敬畏耶和华，不全守自己的规矩、典章，也不遵守耶和华吩咐雅各后裔的律法、诫命。雅各，就是从前耶和华起名叫以色列的。

那人说：“你的名不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列；因为你与神与人较力，都得了胜。”

且对他说：“你的名原是雅各，从今以后不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列。”这样，他就改名叫以色列。

他们从约旦河中取来的那十二块石头，约书亚就立在吉甲，

吩咐他们说：‘你们从这里，从约旦河中、祭司脚站定的地方，取十二块石头带过去，放在你们今夜要住宿的地方。’”于是，约书亚将他从以色列人中所预备的那十二个人，每支派一人，都召了来。

主耶和华如此说：“你们要照地的境界，按以色列十二支派分地为业。约瑟必得两份。

“人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上写‘为犹大和他的同伴以色列人’；又取一根木杖，在其上写‘为约瑟，就是为以法莲，又为他的同伴以色列全家’。你要使这两根木杖接连为一，在你手中成为一根。你本国的子民问你说：‘这是什么意思？你不指示我们吗？’你就对他们说：‘主耶和华如此说：我要将约瑟和他同伴以色列支派的杖，就是那在以法莲手中的，与犹大的杖一同接连为一，在我手中成为一根。’你所写的那两根杖要在他们眼前拿在手中，要对他们说，主耶和华如此说：我要将以色列人从他们所到的各国收取，又从四围聚集他们，引导他们归回本地。我要使他们在那地，在以色列山上成为一国，有一王作他们众民的王。他们不再为二国，决不再分为二国；

我听见以色列人各支派中受印的数目有十四万四千。犹大支派中受印的有一万二千；流便支派中有一万二千；迦得支派中有一万二千；亚设支派中有一万二千；拿弗他利支派中有一万二千；玛拿西支派中有一万二千；西缅支派中有一万二千；利未支派中有一万二千；以萨迦支派中有一万二千；西布伦支派中有一万二千；约瑟支派中有一万二千；便雅悯支派中受印的有一万二千。

摩西将耶和华的命令都写上。清早起来，在山下筑一座坛，按以色列十二支派立十二根柱子，

并且被建造在使徒和先知的根基上，有基督耶稣自己为房角石，

行奉献神殿的礼就献公牛一百只，公绵羊二百只，绵羊羔四百只，又照以色列支派的数目献公山羊十二只，为以色列众人作赎罪祭；

雅各家，称为以色列名下，从犹大水源出来的，当听我言！你们指着耶和华的名起誓，提说以色列的神，却不凭诚实，不凭公义。

耶和华说：“那时，我必作以色列各家的神；他们必作我的子民。”

在那里筑了一座坛，起名叫伊利伊罗伊以色列。

身体只有一个，圣灵只有一个，正如你们蒙召同有一个指望。一主，一信，一洗，一神，就是众人的父，超乎众人之上，贯乎众人之中，也住在众人之内。

有高大的墙，有十二个门，门上有十二位天使，门上又写着以色列十二个支派的名字。
