So they prepared one of the bulls and placed it on the altar. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting,“ O Baal, answer us!” But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made.

They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

它們像瓜田裡的稻草人，不能說話；它們必須要人抬著走，因為它們不能走路。你們不要害怕它們，因它們不能降禍，也不能降福。”

關於吃祭過偶像的食物，我們知道世上的偶像算不得甚麼，也知道神只有一位，沒有別的神。

你們知道，你們還是教外人的時候，總是受迷惑被引誘，去拜那不能說話的偶像。

你們呼求你們神的名，我也呼求耶和華的名。那降火來顯示回答的神就是神了。”眾人都回答：“這話說得很好！”

列國的偶像是金的、銀的，是人手所做的。它們有口，卻不能說話；有眼，卻不能看；有耳，卻不能聽；有鼻，卻不能聞；有手，卻不能摸；有腳，卻不能行；也不能用喉嚨發聲。做偶像的必和偶像一樣；凡是倚靠它們的，都必這樣。

“列國逃脫的人哪！你們要來集合，一同近前來。那些抬著木頭做的偶像，向不能拯救人的神祈求的，真是無知。

他用剩下來的一半做了一個神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，他向它俯伏，向它敬拜，又向它禱告，說：“求你救我，因為你是我的神。”

到那日，我必懲罰所有跳過門檻的，所有使強暴和欺詐充滿主人房屋的。”

他在自己的神尼斯洛廟裡叩拜的時候，他的兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

你們祈禱的時候，不可重複無意義的話，像教外人一樣，他們以為話多了就蒙垂聽。

雕刻的像有甚麼用處呢？不過是匠人雕刻出來的；鑄造的像、虛假的教師，有甚麼用處呢？匠人竟倚靠自己所做，那不能說話的假神。

竟高抬自己，敵對天上的主，使人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前來，你和你的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪用這些器皿喝酒；你又讚美那些不能看見、不能聽見、甚麼都不能知道，用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神，卻沒有把榮耀歸給那手中有你的氣息，和那掌管你一切命途的神。

我說的是甚麼意思呢？偶像算得甚麼，還是祭過偶像的食物算得甚麼？我是說，教外人所祭的是鬼，不是獻給神；我卻不願意你們與鬼來往。

列國的偶像是金的銀的，是人手所做的。有口卻不能說話，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。做偶像的必和它們一樣，所有倚靠它們的也必這樣。以色列家啊！你們要稱頌耶和華；亞倫家啊！你們要稱頌耶和華；利未家啊！你們要稱頌耶和華；敬畏耶和華的，你們要稱頌耶和華。
