They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

它们像瓜田里的稻草人，不能说话；它们必须要人抬着走，因为它们不能走路。你们不要害怕它们，因它们不能降祸，也不能降福。”

关于吃祭过偶像的食物，我们知道世上的偶像算不得什么，也知道神只有一位，没有别的神。

你们知道，你们还是教外人的时候，总是受迷惑被引诱，去拜那不能说话的偶像。

你们呼求你们神的名，我也呼求耶和华的名。那降火来显示回答的神就是神了。”众人都回答：“这话说得很好！”

列国的偶像是金的、银的，是人手所做的。它们有口，却不能说话；有眼，却不能看；有耳，却不能听；有鼻，却不能闻；有手，却不能摸；有脚，却不能行；也不能用喉咙发声。做偶像的必和偶像一样；凡是倚靠它们的，都必这样。

“列国逃脱的人哪！你们要来集合，一同近前来。那些抬着木头做的偶像，向不能拯救人的神祈求的，真是无知。

他用剩下来的一半做了一个神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，他向它俯伏，向它敬拜，又向它祷告，说：“求你救我，因为你是我的神。”

到那日，我必惩罚所有跳过门槛的，所有使强暴和欺诈充满主人房屋的。”

他在自己的神尼斯洛庙里叩拜的时候，他的儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

你们祈祷的时候，不可重复无意义的话，像教外人一样，他们以为话多了就蒙垂听。

雕刻的像有什么用处呢？不过是匠人雕刻出来的；铸造的像、虚假的教师，有什么用处呢？匠人竟倚靠自己所做，那不能说话的假神。

竟高抬自己，敌对天上的主，使人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前来，你和你的大臣、妻妾、妃嫔用这些器皿喝酒；你又赞美那些不能看见、不能听见、什么都不能知道，用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所做的神，却没有把荣耀归给那手中有你的气息，和那掌管你一切命途的神。

我说的是什么意思呢？偶像算得什么，还是祭过偶像的食物算得什么？我是说，教外人所祭的是鬼，不是献给神；我却不愿意你们与鬼来往。

列国的偶像是金的银的，是人手所做的。有口却不能说话，有眼却不能看，有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息。做偶像的必和它们一样，所有倚靠它们的也必这样。以色列家啊！你们要称颂耶和华；亚伦家啊！你们要称颂耶和华；利未家啊！你们要称颂耶和华；敬畏耶和华的，你们要称颂耶和华。
