They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

它們像瓜園中的稻草人，不能說話，不能行走，需要人搬運。你們不要怕它們，它們既不能害人，也不能助人。」

論到吃獻給偶像的祭物，我們知道世上的偶像算不得什麼，只有一位上帝，此外別無他神。

你們知道，自己在信主前曾受到迷惑和引誘去拜不會說話的偶像。

然後，你們求告你們神明的名字，我求告耶和華，那聽禱告降下火來的就是上帝。」眾人非常贊同他的主意。

他們的神像不過是人用金銀造的。它們有口不能言，有眼不能看，有耳不能聽，有鼻不能聞，有手不能摸，有腳不能走，有喉嚨也不能發聲。那些製造它們、信靠它們的人也會和它們一樣。

「列國的流亡者啊，你們要聚集到這裡來。那些抬著木頭神像、向不能救人的神明禱告的人真愚昧！

他用另一半木頭造了一個神，一個偶像，向它俯伏叩拜、禱告說：「你是我的神明，求你拯救我。」

到那日，我必懲罰所有跳過門檻、使主人的家充滿暴力和欺詐的人。

有一天，他在廟中祭拜他的神明尼斯洛的時候，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，然後逃往亞拉臘。他兒子以撒哈頓繼位。

「你們禱告時不可像外族人那樣喋喋不休，他們以為長篇大論，就必蒙上帝垂聽。

「雕刻的偶像有什麼益處？騙人的鑄像有什麼用處？製造者竟信靠自己造的啞巴偶像！

竟在天上的主面前自大，命人拿來祂殿裡的器皿，供你和大臣、王后、妃嬪用來飲酒，並頌讚不能看、不能聽、一無所知、用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所造的神明，卻不尊崇賜你生命氣息、掌管你一舉一動的上帝。

我這話是什麼意思呢？是說偶像和祭偶像的食物有什麼特別嗎？當然不是，我的意思是那些異教徒所獻的祭是祭鬼魔的，而不是獻給上帝的。我不願意你們與鬼魔有任何關係。

外族人的神像是人用金銀造的。它們有口不能說，有眼不能看，有耳不能聽，口中毫無氣息。那些製造它們、信靠它們的人也會和它們一樣。以色列人啊，你們要稱頌耶和華！亞倫的子孫啊，你們要稱頌耶和華！利未的子孫啊，你們要稱頌耶和華！你們敬畏耶和華的人都要稱頌祂！
