They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

它们像瓜园中的稻草人，不能说话，不能行走，需要人搬运。你们不要怕它们，它们既不能害人，也不能助人。”

论到吃献给偶像的祭物，我们知道世上的偶像算不得什么，只有一位上帝，此外别无他神。

你们知道，自己在信主前曾受到迷惑和引诱去拜不会说话的偶像。

然后，你们求告你们神明的名字，我求告耶和华，那听祷告降下火来的就是上帝。”众人非常赞同他的主意。

他们的神像不过是人用金银造的。它们有口不能言，有眼不能看，有耳不能听，有鼻不能闻，有手不能摸，有脚不能走，有喉咙也不能发声。那些制造它们、信靠它们的人也会和它们一样。

“列国的流亡者啊，你们要聚集到这里来。那些抬着木头神像、向不能救人的神明祷告的人真愚昧！

他用另一半木头造了一个神，一个偶像，向它俯伏叩拜、祷告说：“你是我的神明，求你拯救我。”

到那日，我必惩罚所有跳过门槛、使主人的家充满暴力和欺诈的人。

有一天，他在庙中祭拜他的神明尼斯洛的时候，他儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，然后逃往亚拉腊。他儿子以撒哈顿继位。

“你们祷告时不可像外族人那样喋喋不休，他们以为长篇大论，就必蒙上帝垂听。

“雕刻的偶像有什么益处？骗人的铸像有什么用处？制造者竟信靠自己造的哑巴偶像！

竟在天上的主面前自大，命人拿来祂殿里的器皿，供你和大臣、王后、妃嫔用来饮酒，并颂赞不能看、不能听、一无所知、用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所造的神明，却不尊崇赐你生命气息、掌管你一举一动的上帝。

我这话是什么意思呢？是说偶像和祭偶像的食物有什么特别吗？当然不是，我的意思是那些异教徒所献的祭是祭鬼魔的，而不是献给上帝的。我不愿意你们与鬼魔有任何关系。

外族人的神像是人用金银造的。它们有口不能说，有眼不能看，有耳不能听，口中毫无气息。那些制造它们、信靠它们的人也会和它们一样。以色列人啊，你们要称颂耶和华！亚伦的子孙啊，你们要称颂耶和华！利未的子孙啊，你们要称颂耶和华！你们敬畏耶和华的人都要称颂祂！
