And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.

If I go out to the field, Then behold, those slain with the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold, those sick from famine! Yes, both prophet and priest go about in a land they do not know.’”

“ I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand; It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.Is not the food cut off before our eyes, Joy and gladness from the house of our God?The seed shrivels under the clods, Storehouses are in shambles; Barns are broken down, For the grain has withered.How the animals groan! The herds of cattle are restless, Because they have no pasture; Even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment.O Lord, to You I cry out; For fire has devoured the open pastures, And a flame has burned all the trees of the field.The beasts of the field also cry out to You, For the water brooks are dried up, And fire has devoured the open pastures.

“ Judah mourns, And her gates languish; They mourn for the land, And the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.Their nobles have sent their lads for water; They went to the cisterns and found no water. They returned with their vessels empty; They were ashamed and confounded And covered their heads.Because the ground is parched, For there was no rain in the land, The plowmen were ashamed; They covered their heads.Yes, the deer also gave birth in the field, But left because there was no grass.And the wild donkeys stood in the desolate heights; They sniffed at the wind like jackals; Their eyes failed because there was no grass.”

Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight— That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.

When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said,“ I will never leave you nor forsake you.”So we may boldly say:“ The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron.The Lord will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed.
