“ Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.”

The exiles of this host of the people of Israel shall possess the land of the Canaanites as far as Zarephath, and the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad shall possess the cities of the Negeb.

and Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.

You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

as it is written,“ I have made you the father of many nations”— in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told,“ So shall your offspring be.”He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead( since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb.No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God,fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.

The Lord said to Gideon,“ The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying,‘ My own hand has saved me.’

And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon.And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying,“ Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.”
