You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”

He stretched out and fell asleep under the shrub. All of a sudden an angelic messenger touched him and said,“ Get up and eat.”He looked and right there by his head was a cake baking on hot coals and a jug of water. He ate and drank and then slept some more.The LORD’s angelic messenger came back again, touched him, and said,“ Get up and eat, for otherwise you won’t be able to make the journey.”So he got up and ate and drank. That meal gave him the strength to travel forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

He gives food to the animals, and to the young ravens when they chirp.

But he answered,“ It is written,‘ Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

“ Who shut up the sea with doors when it burst forth, coming out of the womb,when I made the storm clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band,when I prescribed its limits, and set in place its bolts and doors,when I said,‘ To here you may come and no farther, here your proud waves will be confined’?Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, or made the dawn know its place,that it might seize the corners of the earth, and shake the wicked out of it?

“ Take the staff and assemble the community, you and Aaron your brother, and then speak to the rock before their eyes. It will pour forth its water, and you will bring water out of the rock for them, and so you will give the community and their beasts water to drink.”

Who prepares prey for the raven, when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?

Let the whole earth fear the LORD! Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him!For he spoke, and it came into existence, he issued the decree, and it stood firm.

I will not let them out of my sight; they will experience disaster, not prosperity.”
