But she said,“ I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.”

她说：“我指着永生耶和华你的神起誓，我没有饼，坛内只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油；我现在找两根柴，回家要为我和我儿子做饼；我们吃了，死就死吧！”

她说：“我指着永生的耶和华—你的上帝起誓，我没有饼，坛内只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。看哪，我去找两根柴，带回家为我和我儿子做饼。我们吃了，就等死吧！”

她说：“我指着永生的耶和华—你的神起誓，我没有饼，坛内只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。看哪，我去找两根柴，带回家为我和我儿子做饼。我们吃了，就等死吧！”

她说：“我凭你的上帝——永活的耶和华起誓，我没有饼，我坛里只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。我来捡柴就是要回去做饼，与儿子吃完后，就只能等死了。”

她说：“我指着永活的耶和华你的神起誓，我没有饼，缸里只有一把面粉，瓶里只有一点油。你看我正在捡两根柴，然后回去，为自己和儿子做饼，我们吃完了，就等死。”

她說：「我指着永生耶和華－你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油；我現在找兩根柴，回家要為我和我兒子做餅；我們吃了，死就死吧！」

她說：「我指着永生的耶和華－你的上帝起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油。看哪，我去找兩根柴，帶回家為我和我兒子做餅。我們吃了，就等死吧！」

她說：「我指着永生的耶和華－你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油。看哪，我去找兩根柴，帶回家為我和我兒子做餅。我們吃了，就等死吧！」

她說：「我憑你的上帝——永活的耶和華起誓，我沒有餅，我罈裡只有一把麵，瓶裡只有一點油。我來撿柴就是要回去做餅，與兒子吃完後，就只能等死了。」

她說：“我指著永活的耶和華你的神起誓，我沒有餅，缸裡只有一把麵粉，瓶裡只有一點油。你看我正在撿兩根柴，然後回去，為自己和兒子做餅，我們吃完了，就等死。”

她說：『我指着永恆主你的永活上帝來起誓：我沒有餅，只有罈內一把麵粉，罐裏一點兒油；你看，我正在撿撿兩根柴，去為自己和兒子作餅；喫了來死，算了。』

曰、我指爾之上帝、維生之耶和華以誓、我無餅、惟餘一握之麵於罌、少許之油於瓶、今採薪二、歸而為我及子備之、食之而死、

“ As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied,“ I don’t have any bread— only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it— and die.”

“ I don’t have any bread,” she replied.“ And that’s just as sure as the Lord your God is alive. All I have is a small amount of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I’m gathering a few sticks to take home. I’ll make one last meal for myself and my son. We’ll eat it. After that, we’ll die.”

And she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”

But she said,“ As the LORD your God lives, I don’t have anything baked— only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have no food, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks so that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”

So she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

And she said, As Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I don’t have anything baked— only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

And she said,[ As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I[ am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

She said,“ As certainly as the LORD your God lives, I have no food, except for a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. Right now I am gathering a couple of sticks for a fire. Then I’m going home to make one final meal for my son and myself. After we have eaten that, we will die of starvation.”

She said,“ As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab,“ As surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives— the God I serve— there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!”

Then she went and sat down by herself about a hundred yards away.“ I don’t want to watch the boy die,” she said, as she burst into tears.

“ What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked.“ Tell me, what do you have in the house?”“ Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied.And Elisha said,“ Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors.Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another.Soon every container was full to the brim!“ Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons.“ There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing.When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her,“ Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.”

But even when they are under oath, saying,‘ As surely as the Lord lives,’ they are still telling lies!”

“ Now, my lord, as surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, since the Lord has kept you from murdering and taking vengeance into your own hands, let all your enemies and those who try to harm you be as cursed as Nabal is.

Then when you swear by my name, saying,‘ As surely as the Lord lives,’ you could do so with truth, justice, and righteousness. Then you would be a blessing to the nations of the world, and all people would come and praise my name.”

If I go out into the fields, I see the bodies of people slaughtered by the enemy. If I walk the city streets, I see people who have died of starvation. The prophets and priests continue with their work, but they don’t know what they’re doing.”

But Ittai said to the king,“ I vow by the Lord and by your own life that I will go wherever my lord the king goes, no matter what happens— whether it means life or death.”

Then David took an oath before Jonathan and said,“ Your father knows perfectly well about our friendship, so he has said to himself,‘ I won’t tell Jonathan— why should I hurt him?’ But I swear to you that I am only a step away from death! I swear it by the Lord and by your own soul!”

Surely the Lord will strike Saul down someday, or he will die of old age or in battle.

I vow by the name of the Lord who rescued Israel that the sinner will surely die, even if it is my own son Jonathan!” But no one would tell him what the trouble was.

The day of the Lord is near, the day when destruction comes from the Almighty. How terrible that day will be!Our food disappears before our very eyes. No joyful celebrations are held in the house of our God.

Then I will send a boy to bring the arrows back. If you hear me tell him,‘ They’re on this side,’ then you will know, as surely as the Lord lives, that all is well, and there is no trouble.

The disciples replied,“ Where would we get enough food here in the wilderness for such a huge crowd?”Jesus asked,“ How much bread do you have?” They replied,“ Seven loaves, and a few small fish.”

Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger. Starving, they waste away for lack of food from the fields.

“ Son of man, tremble as you eat your food. Shake with fear as you drink your water.Tell the people,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says concerning those living in Israel and Jerusalem: They will eat their food with trembling and sip their water in despair, for their land will be stripped bare because of their violence.

But the people broke in and said to Saul,“ Jonathan has won this great victory for Israel. Should he die? Far from it! As surely as the Lord lives, not one hair on his head will be touched, for God helped him do a great deed today.” So the people rescued Jonathan, and he was not put to death.
