“ I don’t have any bread,” she replied.“ And that’s just as sure as the Lord your God is alive. All I have is a small amount of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I’m gathering a few sticks to take home. I’ll make one last meal for myself and my son. We’ll eat it. After that, we’ll die.”

她说：“我指着永生的耶和华—你的神起誓，我没有饼，坛内只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。看哪，我去找两根柴，带回家为我和我儿子做饼。我们吃了，就等死吧！”

她说：“我凭你的上帝——永活的耶和华起誓，我没有饼，我坛里只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。我来捡柴就是要回去做饼，与儿子吃完后，就只能等死了。”

她说：“我指着永活的耶和华你的神起誓，我没有饼，缸里只有一把面粉，瓶里只有一点油。你看我正在捡两根柴，然后回去，为自己和儿子做饼，我们吃完了，就等死。”

她說：「我指着永生耶和華－你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油；我現在找兩根柴，回家要為我和我兒子做餅；我們吃了，死就死吧！」

她說：「我指着永生的耶和華－你的上帝起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油。看哪，我去找兩根柴，帶回家為我和我兒子做餅。我們吃了，就等死吧！」

她說：「我憑你的上帝——永活的耶和華起誓，我沒有餅，我罈裡只有一把麵，瓶裡只有一點油。我來撿柴就是要回去做餅，與兒子吃完後，就只能等死了。」

她說：“我指著永活的耶和華你的神起誓，我沒有餅，缸裡只有一把麵粉，瓶裡只有一點油。你看我正在撿兩根柴，然後回去，為自己和兒子做餅，我們吃完了，就等死。”

她說：『我指着永恆主你的永活上帝來起誓：我沒有餅，只有罈內一把麵粉，罐裏一點兒油；你看，我正在撿撿兩根柴，去為自己和兒子作餅；喫了來死，算了。』

曰、我指爾之上帝、維生之耶和華以誓、我無餅、惟餘一握之麵於罌、少許之油於瓶、今採薪二、歸而為我及子備之、食之而死、

曰、我指爾之上帝耶和華以誓、我家無餅、所有者惟器中之粉一握、瓶中之油少許、我採薪才盈二束、欲歸而烹之、備我及子食之而死。

“ As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied,“ I don’t have any bread— only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it— and die.”

And she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”

But she said,“ I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.”

But she said,“ As the LORD your God lives, I don’t have anything baked— only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have no food, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks so that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”

So she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

And she said, As Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I don’t have anything baked— only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

And she said,[ As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I[ am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

She said,“ As certainly as the LORD your God lives, I have no food, except for a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. Right now I am gathering a couple of sticks for a fire. Then I’m going home to make one final meal for my son and myself. After we have eaten that, we will die of starvation.”

She said,“ As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

Elijah was from Tishbe in the land of Gilead. He said to Ahab,“ I serve the Lord. He is the God of Israel. You can be sure that he lives. And you can be just as sure that there won’t be any dew or rain on the whole land. There won’t be any during the next few years. It won’t come until I say so.”

Then she sat down about as far away as a person can shoot an arrow. She thought,“ I can’t stand to watch the boy die.” As she sat there, she began to sob.

Elisha replied to her,“ How can I help you? Tell me. What do you have in your house?”“ I don’t have anything there at all,” she said.“ All I have is a small jar of olive oil.”Elisha said,“ Go around to all your neighbors. Ask them for empty jars. Get as many as you can.Then go inside your house. Shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars. As each jar is filled, put it over to one side.”The woman left him. Then she shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her. And she kept pouring.When all the jars were full, she spoke to one of her sons. She said,“ Bring me another jar.” But he replied,“ There aren’t any more left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.She went and told the man of God about it. He said,“ Go and sell the oil. Pay what you owe. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

They make their promises in my name. They say,‘ You can be sure that the Lord is alive.’ But their promises can’t be trusted.”

Sir, the Lord has kept you from killing Nabal and his men. He has kept you from using your own hands to get even. So may what’s about to happen to Nabal happen to all your enemies. May it happen to everyone who wants to harm you. And may it happen just as surely as the Lord your God and you are alive.

Make all your promises in my name. When you promise say,‘ You can be sure that the Lord is alive.’ Be truthful, fair and honest when you make these promises. Then the nations will ask for blessings from me. And they will boast about me.”

Suppose I go into the country. Then I see people who have been killed by swords. Or suppose I go into the city. Then I see people who have died of hunger. Prophet and priest alike have gone to a land they hadn’t known about before.’ ”

But Ittai replied to the king,“ You are my king and master. I want to be where you are. It doesn’t matter whether I live or die. And that’s just as sure as the Lord and you are alive.”

But David strongly disagreed. He said,“ Your father knows very well that you are pleased with me. He has said to himself,‘ I don’t want Jonathan to know I’m planning to kill David. If he finds out, he’ll be very sad.’ But I’m very close to being killed. And that’s just as sure as the Lord and you are alive.”

You can be sure that the Lord lives,” he said.“ And you can be just as sure that the Lord himself will strike Saul down. Perhaps he’ll die a natural death. Or perhaps he’ll go into battle and be killed.

The Lord is the one who rescues Israel. You can be sure that the Lord lives. And you can be just as sure that the sinner must die. He must die even if he’s my son Jonathan.” But no one said anything.

The day of the Lord is near. How sad it will be on that day! The Mighty One is coming to destroy you.Our food has been taken away right in front of our eyes. There isn’t any joy or gladness in the house of our God.

Then I’ll send a boy out there. I’ll tell him,‘ Go and find the arrows.’ Suppose I say to him,‘ The arrows are on this side of you. Bring them here.’ Then come. That will mean you are safe. You won’t be in any danger. And that’s just as sure as the Lord is alive.

His disciples answered him.“ There is nothing here,” they said.“ Where could we get enough bread to feed this large crowd?”“ How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.“ Seven,” they replied,“ and a few small fish.”

Those killed by swords are better off than those who die of hunger. Those who are hungry waste away to nothing. They don’t have any food from the fields.

“ Son of man, tremble with fear as you eat your food. Tremble as you drink your water.Speak to the people of the land. Say to them,‘ Here is what the Lord and King says. He says this about those who live in Jerusalem and Israel.“ They will be worried as they eat their food. They will not have any hope as they drink their water. Their land will be stripped of everything in it because all those who live there are harming one another.

But the men said to Saul,“ Should Jonathan be put to death? Never! He has saved Israel in a wonderful way. He did it today with God’s help. You can be sure that the Lord lives. And you can be just as sure that not even one hair on Jonathan’s head will fall to the ground.” So the men rescued Jonathan. He wasn’t put to death.
