But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have no food, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks so that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”

她说：“我指着永生的耶和华—你的神起誓，我没有饼，坛内只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。看哪，我去找两根柴，带回家为我和我儿子做饼。我们吃了，就等死吧！”

她说：“我凭你的上帝——永活的耶和华起誓，我没有饼，我坛里只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。我来捡柴就是要回去做饼，与儿子吃完后，就只能等死了。”

她说：“我指着永活的耶和华你的神起誓，我没有饼，缸里只有一把面粉，瓶里只有一点油。你看我正在捡两根柴，然后回去，为自己和儿子做饼，我们吃完了，就等死。”

她說：「我指着永生耶和華－你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油；我現在找兩根柴，回家要為我和我兒子做餅；我們吃了，死就死吧！」

她說：「我指着永生的耶和華－你的上帝起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油。看哪，我去找兩根柴，帶回家為我和我兒子做餅。我們吃了，就等死吧！」

她說：「我指着永生的耶和華－你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油。看哪，我去找兩根柴，帶回家為我和我兒子做餅。我們吃了，就等死吧！」

她說：「我憑你的上帝——永活的耶和華起誓，我沒有餅，我罈裡只有一把麵，瓶裡只有一點油。我來撿柴就是要回去做餅，與兒子吃完後，就只能等死了。」

她說：“我指著永活的耶和華你的神起誓，我沒有餅，缸裡只有一把麵粉，瓶裡只有一點油。你看我正在撿兩根柴，然後回去，為自己和兒子做餅，我們吃完了，就等死。”

她說：『我指着永恆主你的永活上帝來起誓：我沒有餅，只有罈內一把麵粉，罐裏一點兒油；你看，我正在撿撿兩根柴，去為自己和兒子作餅；喫了來死，算了。』

曰、我指爾之上帝、維生之耶和華以誓、我無餅、惟餘一握之麵於罌、少許之油於瓶、今採薪二、歸而為我及子備之、食之而死、

曰、我指爾之上帝耶和華以誓、我家無餅、所有者惟器中之粉一握、瓶中之油少許、我採薪才盈二束、欲歸而烹之、備我及子食之而死。

“ As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied,“ I don’t have any bread— only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it— and die.”

“ I don’t have any bread,” she replied.“ And that’s just as sure as the Lord your God is alive. All I have is a small amount of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I’m gathering a few sticks to take home. I’ll make one last meal for myself and my son. We’ll eat it. After that, we’ll die.”

And she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”

But she said,“ I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.”

But she said,“ As the LORD your God lives, I don’t have anything baked— only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

So she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

And she said, As Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I don’t have anything baked— only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

And she said,[ As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I[ am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

She said,“ As certainly as the LORD your God lives, I have no food, except for a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. Right now I am gathering a couple of sticks for a fire. Then I’m going home to make one final meal for my son and myself. After we have eaten that, we will die of starvation.”

She said,“ As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall certainly be neither dew nor rain during these years, except by my word.”

Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said,“ May I not see the boy die!” And she sat opposite him, and raised her voice and wept.

So Elisha said to her,“ What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said,“ Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.”Then he said,“ Go, borrow containers elsewhere for yourself, empty containers from all your neighbors— do not get too few.Then you shall come in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour into all these containers; and you shall set aside what is full.”So she left him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they began bringing the containers to her, and she poured the oil.When the containers were full, she said to her son,“ Bring me another container.” But he said to her,“ There are no more containers.” Then the oil stopped.So she came and told the man of God. And he said,“ Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”

And although they say,‘ As the Lord lives,’ Certainly they swear falsely.”

“ Now then, my lord, as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, since the Lord has restrained you from shedding blood, and from avenging yourself by your own hand, now then, may your enemies and those who seek evil against my lord, be like Nabal.

And if you will swear,‘ As the Lord lives,’ In truth, in justice, and in righteousness; Then the nations will bless themselves in Him, And in Him they will boast.”

If I go out to the country, There are those killed by the sword! Or if I enter the city, There are diseases from famine! For both prophet and priest Have wandered around in the land that they do not know.’ ”

But Ittai answered the king and said,“ As the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether for death or for life, there assuredly shall your servant be!”

Yet David vowed again, saying,“ Your father is well aware that I have found favor in your sight, and he has said,‘ Jonathan is not to know this, otherwise he will be worried.’ But indeed as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is just a step between me and death.”

David also said,“ As the Lord lives, the Lord certainly will strike him, or his day will come that he dies, or he will go down in battle and perish.

For as the Lord lives, who saves Israel, even if it is in my son Jonathan, he shall assuredly die!” But not one of all the people answered him.

Woe for the day! For the day of the Lord is near, And it will come as destruction from the Almighty.Has food not been cut off before our eyes, and Joy and rejoicing from the house of our God?

Then behold, I will send the boy, telling him,‘ Go, find the arrows.’ If I specifically say to the boy,‘ Behold, the arrows are on this side of you, get them,’ then come, because it is safe for you and there is nothing to harm you, as the Lord lives.

The disciples* said to Him,“ Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?”And Jesus* said to them,“ How many loaves do you have?” And they said,“ Seven, and a few small fish.”

Better off are those killed by the sword Than those killed by hunger; For they waste away, stricken By the lack of the produce of the field.

“ Son of man, eat your bread with trembling, and drink your water with quivering and anxiety.Then say to the people of the land,‘ This is what the Lord God says concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel:“ They will eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with horror, because their land will be stripped of its fullness on account of the violence of all who live in it.

But the people said to Saul,“ Must Jonathan die, he who has brought about this great victory in Israel? Far from it! As the Lord lives, not even a hair of his head shall fall to the ground, because he has worked with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan and he did not die.
