But his servant Zimri, commander of half his chariots, conspired against him. When he was at Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah,

谁有祸了？谁有痛苦？谁有争执？谁有苦情？谁无故受伤？谁的眼目赤红？就是那些沉湎于酒，常去找混合酒的人。虽然酒发红、在杯中闪烁、下咽舒畅，但你不要去看它。酒到尽头，会像蛇那样咬你，像毒蛇那样刺你；你的眼就看见怪事，你的心也吐出荒谬；你就像是躺在海中，也像躺在桅杆顶端，说：“他们打我，我不疼痛；他们击打我，我也不知道。我什么时候醒来呢？我还要继续寻找酒。”

亚伯兰说：“主耶和华啊，你要赐给我什么呢？我一直没有孩子，我家业的继承人是大马士革人以利以谢。”

伯沙撒王为他的一千名大臣摆设了盛大的宴席，当着这一千人的面喝酒。伯沙撒酒酣之时，吩咐人把他先王尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷的圣殿中取走的金银器皿带来，好让王和他的大臣们、妻子们、妃嫔们都用这些来喝酒。于是人把圣殿——耶路撒冷神的殿中所取走的金器皿带来，王和他的大臣们、妻子们、妃嫔们就用这些来喝酒。他们一边喝酒，一边称赞那些用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所做的神明。

就动手殴打与他同做奴仆的，并且与醉酒的人一起吃喝，那么，这奴仆的主人就要在意想不到的日子、在他不知道的时刻回来，并且会严厉惩罚他，使他与那些伪善的人有同样的下场。在那里将有哀哭和切齿。

当夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被杀了。
