“ I raised you up from the dust and made you ruler over my people Israel. Yet you followed in Jeroboam’s footsteps and encouraged my people Israel to sin; their sins have made me angry.

“我既从尘埃中提拔你，立你作我百姓以色列的君王，你竟行耶罗波安所行的道，使我的百姓以色列陷入罪里，以他们的罪惹我发怒，

“我从尘土中提拔你，立你为我以色列子民的王，你却重蹈耶罗波安的覆辙，使我的子民陷入罪中，惹我发怒。

“我既然从尘埃中高举了你，立你作我的子民以色列的领袖；然而，你却走耶罗波安的路，使我的子民以色列犯罪，因他们的罪惹我发怒。

「我既從塵埃中提拔你，立你作我百姓以色列的君王，你竟行耶羅波安所行的道，使我的百姓以色列陷入罪裏，以他們的罪惹我發怒，

「我從塵土中提拔你，立你為我以色列子民的王，你卻重蹈耶羅波安的覆轍，使我的子民陷入罪中，惹我發怒。

“我既然從塵埃中高舉了你，立你作我的子民以色列的領袖；然而，你卻走耶羅波安的路，使我的子民以色列犯罪，因他們的罪惹我發怒。

『我既從塵土中舉起了你，立你做人君來管理我人民以色列，你竟走耶羅波安所走的路，使我人民以色列犯了罪，用他們的罪來惹我發怒，

昔我舉爾於塵埃、立為我民以色列之君、而爾行耶羅波安之道、使我民以色列陷罪、激我之怒、

昔爾辱在泥塗、我舉爾為王、治我以色列族之民、爾從耶羅破暗所為、使以色列族犯罪、干我震怒、

我自塵埃中舉爾、立爾為我民以色列之君、乃爾從耶羅波安所為、使我民以色列人陷於罪、作惡干犯我怒、

“ I lifted you up from the dust and appointed you ruler over my people Israel, but you followed the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to arouse my anger by their sins.

“ I lifted you up from the dust. I appointed you king over my people Israel. But you lived the way Jeroboam had lived. You also caused my people Israel to sin. And their sins made me very angry.

“ Since I exalted you out of the dust and made you leader over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins,

“ I lifted you out of the dust to make you ruler of my people Israel, but you have followed the evil example of Jeroboam. You have provoked my anger by causing my people Israel to sin.

“ Because I raised you up from the dust and made you ruler over my people Israel, but you have walked in the ways of Jeroboam and have caused my people Israel to sin, angering me with their sins,

“ Since I exalted you from the dust and made you leader over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have misled My people Israel into sin, provoking Me to anger with their sins,

“ Inasmuch as I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made My people Israel sin, to provoke Me to anger with their sins,

Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

“ Because I raised you up from the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, but you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have caused My people Israel to sin, provoking Me with their sins,

Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

“ Because I exalted you out of the dust, and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

He did evil in the sight of the LORD; he followed in Jeroboam’s footsteps and encouraged Israel to sin.

Go, tell Jeroboam,‘ This is what the LORD God of Israel says:“ I raised you up from among the people and made you ruler over my people Israel.

He lifts the weak from the dust; he raises the poor from the ash heap to seat them with princes and to bestow on them an honored position. The foundations of the earth belong to the LORD, and he has placed the world on them.

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile,that he might seat him with princes, with the princes of his people.

After this happened, Jeroboam still did not change his evil ways; he continued to appoint common people as priests at the high places. Anyone who wanted the job he consecrated as a priest.This sin caused Jeroboam’s dynasty to come to an end and to be destroyed from the face of the earth.

A man of God came to Eli and said to him,“ This is what the LORD says:‘ Did I not plainly reveal myself to your ancestor’s house when they were in Egypt in the house of Pharaoh?I chose your ancestor from all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer sacrifice on my altar, to burn incense, and to bear the ephod before me. I gave to your ancestor’s house all the fire offerings made by the Israelites.

This ought not to be, my sons! For the report that I hear circulating among the LORD’s people is not good.

Nathan said to David,“ You are that man! This is what the LORD God of Israel says:‘ I chose you to be king over Israel and I rescued you from the hand of Saul.I gave you your master’s house, and put your master’s wives into your arms. I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all that somehow seems insignificant, I would have given you so much more as well!Why have you shown contempt for the word of the LORD by doing evil in my sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and you have taken his wife as your own! You have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.So now the sword will never depart from your house. For you have despised me by taking the wife of Uriah the Hittite as your own!’This is what the LORD says:‘ I am about to bring disaster on you from inside your own household! Right before your eyes I will take your wives and hand them over to your companion. He will have sexual relations with your wives in broad daylight!

He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position;

So let my lord the king now listen to the words of his servant. If the LORD has incited you against me, may he take delight in an offering. But if men have instigated this, may they be cursed before the LORD! For they have driven me away this day from being united with the LORD’s inheritance, saying,‘ Go on, serve other gods!’

Samuel said,“ Is it not true that when you were insignificant in your own eyes, you became head of the tribes of Israel? The LORD chose you as king over Israel.The LORD sent you on a campaign saying,‘ Go and exterminate those sinful Amalekites! Fight against them until you have destroyed them.’Why haven’t you obeyed the LORD? Instead you have greedily rushed upon the plunder! You have done what is wrong in the LORD’s estimation.”

Moses said to Aaron,“ What did this people do to you, that you have brought on them so great a sin?”

So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

He will hand Israel over to their enemies because of the sins which Jeroboam committed and which he made Israel commit.”

He did evil in the sight of the LORD. He followed in his father’s footsteps and encouraged Israel to sin.
