For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David had done what was right in the sight of the Lord. He had kept all the Lord’ s commands. He had obeyed them all the days of his life. But he hadn’t obeyed the Lord in the case of Uriah, the Hittite.

信裏寫着說：『要派烏利亞到前面戰事劇烈的地方，你們便退到他後邊，讓他被擊殺而死。』當圍守那城的時候、約押知道哪裏有大力氣的人，便將烏利亞配置在哪裏。城裏的人出來，跟約押交戰；兵眾之中、大衛的僕人中有倒斃的，赫人烏利亞也死了。

至於你呢，你如果以純全的心正正直直地行於我面前，像你父親大衛那樣行：照我一切所吩咐你的去作，謹守我的律例典章，

他們二人在上帝面前都是義人，遵行主的一切誡命和律例，無可責備。

你為甚麼藐視永恆主的話，行他所看為壞的事；將赫人烏利亞用刀擊殺，而娶了他的妻做你的妻子，借亞捫人的刀去殺害他呢？現在呢、你既藐視了我，娶了赫人烏利亞的妻做你的妻子，刀劍就永不離開你的家。」

大衛打發人去查問那婦人是誰；有人說：『這不是以連的女兒、赫人烏利亞的妻子拔示巴麼？』大衛打發使者將婦人接來；那時她的月經剛得潔淨；婦人來到大衛那裏，大衛就和婦人同寢，婦人便回家去。

論到大衛、他在自己的世代中奉行了上帝的計畫、就長眠下去，放在他祖宗旁邊，見了敗壞；

約西亞行永恆主所看為對的事，走他祖大衛始終所走的路，不偏於右，不偏於左。

上帝啊，按你堅固之愛恩待我！按你豐盛的慈悲塗抹我的過犯哦！

那麼、我既看重你的一切誡命，就不至於羞愧。

亞比央行他父親前此所行的罪惡；他的心總不像他祖父大衛的心那樣純全全地歸向永恆主他的上帝。

約西亞行永恆主所看為對的事，走他祖大衛所走的路，不偏於右，也不偏於左。

又廢了掃羅，給他們舉起了大衛來做王，並為大衛作證說：「我尋得了耶西的兒子大衛、一個合我心意的人，他必實行我一切的旨意。」
