For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David had done what was right in the sight of the Lord. He had kept all the Lord’ s commands. He had obeyed them all the days of his life. But he hadn’t obeyed the Lord in the case of Uriah, the Hittite.

大衛在信上吩咐約押：「你把烏利亞派到前線最險惡的地方，到時其他人都要撤退，好讓敵人殺死他。」於是約押圍攻城池時，便派烏利亞到最強悍的敵人那裡。敵人出來迎戰，大衛的軍中有幾位陣亡，赫人烏利亞也死了。

如果你像你父親大衛一樣存誠實正直的心事奉我，遵行我的一切吩咐，謹守我的律例和典章，

夫妻二人遵行主的一切誡命和條例，無可指責，在上帝眼中是義人。

你為什麼蔑視我的命令，做出我視為可憎的事呢？你藉亞捫人的刀殺了赫人烏利亞，把他的妻子據為己有。因為你藐視我，把赫人烏利亞的妻子據為己有，從今以後，殺戮流血的事必永不離開你的家。』

大衛就派人去打聽這個女人是誰，得知她是以連的女兒、赫人烏利亞的妻子拔示芭。大衛差人把她接來，她來了，大衛就與她同寢，那時她的月經剛潔淨。事後，她便回家去了。

「大衛在世時遵行上帝的旨意，最後死了，葬在他祖先那裡，肉身也朽壞了。

約西亞做耶和華視為正的事，事事效法他祖先大衛，不偏不離。

上帝啊，求你憐憫我，因為你的慈愛永不改變；求你除去我的過犯，因為你有無限的憐憫。

我重視你的一切命令，便不致羞愧。

亞比央和他父親一樣作惡多端，沒有像他祖先大衛一樣忠於他的上帝耶和華。

他做耶和華視為正的事，效法他祖先大衛，不偏不離。

之後，上帝廢掉掃羅，選立大衛作王，並為他作證說，『我找到了耶西的兒子大衛，他是合我心意的人，他必遵行我一切的旨意。』
