For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David had done what was right in the sight of the Lord. He had kept all the Lord’ s commands. He had obeyed them all the days of his life. But he hadn’t obeyed the Lord in the case of Uriah, the Hittite.

And David send and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath- sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her( for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned unto her house.

For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
