He even deposed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

He even removed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother. That’s because she had made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. The Lord hated it. So Asa cut it down. He burned it in the Kidron Valley.

He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. And Asa cut down her image and burned it at the brook Kidron.

取犢爇以火、擣為粉、揚於水、令以色列族飲之、

取耶和華殿所有之亞大綠像、出耶路撒冷外、燬於汲淪溪濱、擣之成粉、揚於民塚。

耶穌語眾時、其母及兄弟立於外、欲與之言、或告曰、若母及兄弟立於外、欲與爾言、曰、何者為吾母吾兄弟乎、遂指門徒曰、視我母及兄弟、凡遵我天父旨者、即我兄弟姊妹及母也、

以色列族燬其城、惟金銀銅鐵諸器、貯於耶和華府庫。

我未嘗一時服之、使福音真理、恆存爾中、其有名者、不論何人、於我無與、上帝不以貌取人、要其有名者、與我無所增益、

如爾同母之兄弟、或爾子女、或眷愛之妻、或契合之友、私誘爾曰、宜服事他上帝、然此上帝爾與爾祖所未識者、或四周遠近諸民之上帝、自地極至天涯、爾毋允從、毋聽順、毋姑縱、毋矜恤、毋藏匿、爾先擊之、後民擊之、必殺毋赦。彼欲惑爾、俾爾違逆、故當以石擊之、致之於死、蓋導爾出埃及、脫爾於賤役者、爾上帝耶和華是也。以色列族眾、既聞是言、震驚特甚、不復行此惡於爾中。

爾素犯罪、以鑄像如犢、我爇之以火、擣之為粉、揚於山溪。

耶穌言竟、偕門徒出、涉汲淪溪有園、入焉、

猶大族眾發誓、一心崇耶和華、蒙其施恩、錫綏四方、忻喜不勝。亞撒王祖母馬迦、於林間立偶像、故貶其太后之位、斫其所奉之像、擣之成粉、焚於吉崙溪旁。以色列地之崇坵雖未廢、然亞撒誠心從事耶和華、終身不倦。以父所獻、及己所獻之金銀器皿、進上帝殿、自是干戈克靖、至於亞撒三十五年、

彼告父母曰、我未見之、不識兄弟、不顧子女、乃從爾命、而守爾約。

在耶路撒冷為王、歷四十一年、押沙龍女馬迦、乃其祖母、

愛父母過於我者、不宜於我也、愛子女過於我者、不宜乎我也、

猶大列王、曾築祭壇、置於亞哈士樓巔、馬拿西亦築祭壇、置於耶和華殿二院中、皆為王所毀、傾其灰於汲淪溪濱。昔以色列王所羅門、在耶路撒冷邪僻山側、曾築崇坵、奉西頓人可惡之物亞大綠、摩押人可惡之物基抹、亞捫族可惡之物密君、皆為王所污、毀其像、斫其偶、以骸骨充其所。昔尼八子耶羅破暗、陷以色列族於罪戾、在伯特利立崇坵、築祭壇、約西亞毀其祭壇、廢其崇坵、焚其偶像、擣之成粉。

此後吾不以貌視人、雖曾以貌視基督、今不復如此視之、

斯土有溪名汲淪、民濟是溪、大聲而哭、王亦濟、望野遄征。

廢諸崇坵、毀其像、斫其偶、昔摩西所作之銅蛇、迄今以色列人焚香以奉事。希西家曰、此無非為尼忽旦耳、遂碎之。

我見其行不正、不遵福音真理、於眾前語彼得云、爾猶太人也、若從異邦、不從猶太人、則又何使異邦人從猶太人乎、

必摧其壇、毀其像、斫其偶、所雕刻之形、燬之以火、爾之待彼必如是。

乃押沙龍女馬迦所出、在耶路撒冷為王、凡歷三年、

如有人欲為偽先知、則其父母、必責之曰、爾托耶和華之名而妄言、必不得生、而其父母、必手刃之、

王使人毀巴力壇、日像高懸於側、王斫之、伐林木、擣偶像成粉、揚於祭偶者之塚。
