Then Daniel answered, and said before the king,“ Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom and majesty, glory and honor.And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down.But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.“ But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this.And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.“ And this is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it;TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting;PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

He catches the wise in their own craftiness, And the counsel of the cunning comes quickly upon them.

Now the Lord had said to Ahijah,“ Here is the wife of Jeroboam, coming to ask you something about her son, for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall say to her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”

Then Samuel said to Saul,“ Be quiet! And I will tell you what the Lord said to me last night.” And he said to him,“ Speak on.”

The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born.”

For anyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who separates himself from Me and sets up his idols in his heart and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, then comes to a prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I the Lord will answer him by Myself.I will set My face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonished for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. So the king spoke, and said,“ Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation trouble you.” Belteshazzar answered and said,“ My Lord, may the dream concern those who hate you, and its interpretation concern your enemies!“ The tree that you saw, which grew and became strong, whose height reached to the heavens and which could be seen by all the earth,whose leaves were lovely and its fruit abundant, in which was food for all, under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and in whose branches the birds of the heaven had their home—it is you, O king, who have grown and become strong; for your greatness has grown and reaches to the heavens, and your dominion to the end of the earth.“ And inasmuch as the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying,‘ Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave its stump and roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze in the tender grass of the field; let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him graze with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him’;this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my Lord the king:They shall drive you from men, your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.

So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.Then they asked Him, saying,“ Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth:Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them,“ Why do you test Me?

So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say such things!”

But Peter said,“ Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.

“ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before them that which causes them to stumble into iniquity. Should I let Myself be inquired of at all by them?“ Therefore speak to them, and say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ Everyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him who comes, according to the multitude of his idols,that I may seize the house of Israel by their heart, because they are all estranged from Me by their idols.”’

“ Please inquire of the Lord for us, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wonderful works, that the king may go away from us.”Then Jeremiah said to them,“ Thus you shall say to Zedekiah,‘ Thus says the Lord God of Israel:“ Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will assemble them in the midst of this city.I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath.I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they shall die of a great pestilence.And afterward,” says the Lord,“ I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence and the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life; and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword. He shall not spare them, or have pity or mercy.”’

For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD.’As for them, whether they hear or whether they refuse— for they are a rebellious house— yet they will know that a prophet has been among them.

Then he said to him,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Because you have let slip out of your hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’”

“ Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who lives in Samaria. There he is, in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to take possession of it.You shall speak to him, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ Have you murdered and also taken possession?”’ And you shall speak to him, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs shall lick your blood, even yours.”’”So Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered,“ I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord:‘ Behold, I will bring calamity on you. I will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab every male in Israel, both bond and free.I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and made Israel sin.’And concerning Jezebel the Lord also spoke, saying,‘ The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Ahab and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field.”

therefore behold! I will bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male in Israel, bond and free; I will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as one takes away refuse until it is all gone.The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field; for the Lord has spoken!”’

And Jeroboam said to his wife,“ Please arise, and disguise yourself, that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh. Indeed, Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over this people.

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.

Then Peter said to her,“ How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day.

But Samuel said to Saul,“ I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”

Now it happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had brought him back;and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Because you have disobeyed the word of the Lord, and have not kept the commandment which the Lord your God commanded you,but you came back, ate bread, and drank water in the place of which the Lord said to you,“ Eat no bread and drink no water,” your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”
