適耶羅破暗衣新製之服、自耶路撒冷出時、先知者示羅人亞希雅遇諸塗、無人在側。

以利目眯不明偃卧於室、於耶和華室、法匱之所、

以利年九十有八、目眊不明。

斯土既服、以色列會眾集於示羅、而立會幕、

以撒年邁、目眯不明、召長子以掃曰、吾子。曰、我在此。

以色列年邁、目眯不明、約瑟攜子於前、以色列吻而抱之、

守室者必戰慄、有力者必卷曲、旋磨者寡而缺、窺牖者昏而黑、

人生歲數、無過七十、如體壯健、可冀八旬、雖以遐齡自詡、而已晚景之彌艱、生命將絕、如鳥高飛、倏忽不見兮、

耶羅破暗告妻曰、爾起易服、使人不知爾乃我妻、可往示羅在彼有先知亞希雅、昔嘗告我、必為王治理斯民。

摩西沒時、百有二十歲、其目力未損、其血氣未衰。

民歸營時、以色列長老議曰、耶和華今日使我敗於非利士人前、曷故。盍攜耶和華約匱、自示羅至此、可援我於敵手。當時有居𠼻𡀔［口氷］間萬物主耶和華之約匱在示羅、以利二子、何弗尼非尼哈在側、民遣使詣彼、以攜之至。

昔以示羅為籲我名之所、以色列族作惡、我既有以處之矣。爾可往觀。耶和華又曰、爾既作此、我數告爾、爾弗聽、我屢召爾、爾不諾、故我所錫爾祖、及爾之地、與斯殿為籲我名之所、爾所恃者、我必敗之、如昔敗示羅然。
