And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused the Lord’s anger by making Asherah poles.

I, the Lord, will strike down Israel. Israel will be like tall grass swaying in the water. I will pull Israel up from this good land by the roots. I gave it to their people who lived long ago. I will scatter Israel to the east side of the Euphrates River. That is because they made the Lord very angry. They made poles used to worship the female god named Asherah.

以色列王比加执政期间，亚述王提革拉·毗列色来犯，夺取了以云、亚伯·伯·玛迦、亚挪、基低斯和夏琐，占领了基列、加利利及拿弗他利全境，把那里的居民掳往亚述。

上帝必永远毁灭你，祂必抓住你，把你从家里拉出来，从活人之地铲除。（细拉）

相反，要拆掉他们的祭坛，打碎他们的神柱，砍掉他们的亚舍拉神像。不可拜别的神明，因为耶和华是痛恨不贞的上帝，祂名为‘痛恨不贞’。

你们要拆毁他们的祭坛，打碎他们的神柱，焚烧他们的亚舍拉神像，砍倒他们的偶像，使它们的名字从那里消失。你们不可按照他们的方式敬拜你们的上帝耶和华。

恶人必遭灭绝，奸徒必被铲除。

直到耶和华把他们从自己眼前赶走，正如祂借自己的仆人——众先知对他们的警告。这样，以色列人被掳到亚述，至今仍住在那里。

否则，今天我叫天地作证，你们必很快从约旦河对面将要占领的土地上灭亡，你们必被彻底消灭，不得在那里长久居住。耶和华必把你们驱散到列邦，使你们在列邦中的人数所剩无几。

“以色列人啊，我在你们面前消灭了亚摩利人。虽然他们像香柏树那样高大，如橡树那样强壮，但我灭尽了他们的果子，砍断了他们的根。

正如耶和华喜欢赐福你们，使你们人丁兴旺，祂也同样会不惜消灭你们，使你们在将要占领的土地上灭亡。“耶和华要把你们分散到天下万邦，你们要在那里供奉祖祖辈辈素不认识的木石神像。你们在万邦中将不得安宁，没有落脚之地，耶和华必使你们胆战心惊、目光呆滞、精神颓废。你们必惴惴不安，昼夜恐惧，生死难料。你们必看见可怕之事，以致心中充满恐惧，早上盼望天黑，晚上盼望天亮。耶和华必沿着我曾说你们再不会走的路线，用船把你们送回埃及。你们将在那里卖身做敌人的仆婢，却无人买。”

万国必问，‘耶和华为什么要这样对待这地方？祂为什么大发烈怒？’必有人回答说，‘因为这地方的人背弃了他们祖先的上帝耶和华领他们出埃及时与他们所立的约，去供奉、祭拜他们所不认识、并非耶和华所分派的神明。因此，耶和华向这片土地发怒，把这书上的一切咒诅都降在这里。耶和华盛怒之下把他们从这地方连根拔起，扔到别的地方，正如今日的情形。’

“耶和华要带你们和你们的王到一个你们和你们祖先都不知道的国家，你们要在那里供奉木石神像。

迦萨必被抛弃，亚实基伦必沦为废墟，亚实突的居民必在中午被赶走，以革伦必被连根拔除。

可是，如果你们仍然继续行恶，你们和你们的王都必灭亡。”

何细亚执政第九年，撒玛利亚沦陷。亚述王把以色列人掳到亚述，安置在哈腊、歌散的哈博河一带以及玛代人的各城。以色列人之所以有如此下场，是因为他们的上帝耶和华领他们出埃及，从埃及王法老手中救出他们，他们却犯罪得罪祂。他们祭拜别的神明，

土地被他们离弃，荒无人烟，得享安息。他们却要因拒绝遵守我的典章、厌弃我的律例而饱受惩罚。

他们在各高岗上、树荫下为自己建造丘坛，竖立神柱和亚舍拉神像，国中甚至男庙妓充斥。犹大人仿效耶和华在以色列人面前赶走的外族人，行各种可憎之事。

约翰的门徒离去后，耶稣对众人谈论约翰，说：“你们从前去旷野要看什么呢？看随风摇动的芦苇吗？

但叛逆之辈和犯罪之徒必遭毁灭，背弃耶和华的人必灭亡。你们必因在橡树下，在你们选择的园子里祭拜偶像而蒙羞。

他们离开后，耶稣对众人谈起约翰，说：“你们从前去旷野要看什么呢？看随风摇动的芦苇吗？

亚述王把以色列人掳到亚述，将他们安置在哈腊、歌散的哈博河一带以及玛代人的城邑里。这都是因为以色列人没有听从他们的上帝耶和华，违背了祂的约，不遵行祂仆人摩西所吩咐的一切。

耶稣回答说：“凡不是我天父栽种的都要被连根拔起来。

我要使你们的土地荒废，连占据那里的敌人也为此而震惊。我要把你们驱散到各国，还要拔刀追杀你们。你们的土地将荒废，城邑将沦为废墟。你们被掳到敌国的时候，你们的土地将荒废，享受安息。

反而比前人行恶更甚，为自己设立其他神明，铸造神像，惹我发怒，把我抛在脑后。

你们抬着为自己所造的神像，就是摩洛的帐篷和理番神明的星，祭拜它们，所以我要把你们赶到比巴比伦还远的地方去。’

所以，我要使你们被掳到大马士革以外的地方。”这是耶和华说的，祂的名字是万军之上帝。
