For I was commanded by the word of the Lord:‘ You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”

The Lord gave me a command. He said,‘ Do not eat bread or drink water there. Do not return the same way you came.’ ”

for so was it commanded me by the word of the Lord, saying,‘ You shall neither eat bread nor drink water nor return by the way that you came.’”

For the Lord gave me this command:‘ You must not eat or drink anything while you are there, and do not return to Judah by the same way you came.’”

for this is what I was commanded by the word of the LORD:‘ You must not eat food or drink water or go back the way you came.’”

Do not let my heart turn to any evil thing or perform wicked acts with men who commit sin. Do not let me feast on their delicacies.

I have not departed from the commands of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily food.

that wicked men have sprung up among you, led the inhabitants of their city astray, and said,‘ Let us go and worship other gods,’ which you have not known,you are to inquire, investigate, and interrogate thoroughly. If the report turns out to be true that this detestable thing has happened among you,you must strike down the inhabitants of that city with the sword. Completely destroy everyone in it as well as its livestock with the sword.You are to gather all its spoil in the middle of the city square and completely burn up the city and all its spoil for the Lord your God. The city must remain a mound of ruins forever; it is not to be rebuilt.Nothing set apart for destruction is to remain in your hand, so that the Lord will turn from His burning anger and grant you mercy, show you compassion, and multiply you as He swore to your fathers.This will occur if you obey the Lord your God, keeping all His commands I am giving you today, doing what is right in the sight of the Lord your God.

You are My friends if you do what I command you.

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause dissensions and obstacles contrary to the doctrine you have learned. Avoid them,

and the prophet cried out to the man of God who had come from Judah,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Because you rebelled against the command of the Lord and did not keep the command that the Lord your God commanded you—but you went back and ate bread and drank water in the place that He said to you,“ Do not eat bread and do not drink water”— your corpse will never reach the grave of your fathers.’”

A man of God came from Judah to Bethel by a revelation from the Lord while Jeroboam was standing beside the altar to burn incense.

“ As the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you. Remain in My love.If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love.

He warned the community,“ Get away now from the tents of these wicked men. Don’t touch anything that belongs to them, or you will be swept away because of all their sins.”

Then Samuel said: Does the Lord take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.

Then I heard another voice from heaven: Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive any of her plagues.

But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer who is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.

Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.
