這樣日過一日，過了二年，他的腸子老是因病而墜出來，他就因病重而死。他的人民沒有為他舉行甚麼焚燒禮，像從前為他列祖所焚燒的一樣。約蘭登極的時候三十二歲；在耶路撒冷作王有八年；他去世沒有人思慕。人將他埋葬在大衛城裏，只是不在諸王的墳墓裏。

就把他的屍體安葬在他自己的墳墓裏；人都為他舉哀，說：『哀啊，我兄啊！』

以色列眾人必為他舉哀，將他埋葬；因為屬耶羅波安的人、惟有他得入墳墓，因為在耶羅波安家中、只見他對永恆主以色列的上帝、有可喜悅之處。

列國的君王都很光榮地長臥着，各在自己的陰宅裏；惟獨你被拋棄，不得進你的墳墓，好像可厭的屍身，發出被刀刺死者的臭味，墜落到陰坑的根基，如同屍身被踐踏。在埋葬上你不能和君王一道，因為你的轄地你毁壞了，你的人民你殺戮了。『願那作壞事者後裔的名永不被稱道。

因此永恆主論猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬、是這麼說的：『人必不為他舉哀，好像人舉哀說：「哀啊，我哥哥！」「哀啊，我姐姐！」人必不為他舉哀，好像人舉哀說：「哀啊，主上啊！」「哀啊，陛下呀！」他必被埋葬，像驢之被埋葬，被拖拉，被拋擲於耶路撒冷城門之外。』
