他患此病纏綿日久，過了二年，腸子墜落下來，病重而死。他的民沒有為他燒甚麼物件，像從前為他列祖所燒的一樣。約蘭登基的時候年三十二歲，在耶路撒冷作王八年。他去世無人思慕，眾人葬他在大衛城，只是不在列王的墳墓裏。

就把他的屍身葬在自己的墳墓裏，哀哭他，說：「哀哉！我兄啊。」

以色列眾人必為他哀哭，將他葬埋。凡屬耶羅波安的人，惟有他得入墳墓；因為在耶羅波安的家中，只有他向耶和華－以色列的神顯出善行。

列國的君王俱各在自己陰宅的榮耀中安睡。惟獨你被拋棄，不得入你的墳墓，好像可憎的枝子，以被殺的人為衣，就是被刀刺透，墜落坑中石頭那裏的；你又像被踐踏的屍首一樣。你不得與君王同葬；因為你敗壞你的國，殺戮你的民。惡人後裔的名，必永不提說。

所以，耶和華論到猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬如此說：人必不為他舉哀說：哀哉！我的哥哥；或說：哀哉！我的姊姊；也不為他舉哀說：哀哉！我的主；或說：哀哉！我主的榮華。他被埋葬，好像埋驢一樣，要拉出去扔在耶路撒冷的城門之外。
