But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.

But Rehoboam didn’t accept the advice the elders gave him. Instead, he asked for advice from the young men. They had grown up with him and were now serving him.

But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.

你要聽勸教，受訓誨，使你終久有智慧。

王卻不用老年人給他出的主意，就和那些與他一同長大、在他面前侍立的少年人商議，

反輕棄我一切的勸戒，不肯受我的責備。

因此，耶和華的怒氣向亞瑪謝發作，就差一個先知去見他，說：「這些神不能救它的民脫離你的手，你為何尋求它呢？」先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「誰立你作王的謀士呢？你住口吧！為何找打呢？」先知就止住了，又說：「你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒，我知道神定意要滅你。」

不聽我的勸戒，藐視我一切的責備，

智慧人的心居右；愚昧人的心居左。並且愚昧人行路顯出無知，對眾人說，他是愚昧人。

要使人曉得智慧和訓誨，分辨通達的言語，使人處事領受智慧、仁義、公平、正直的訓誨，使愚人靈明，使少年人有知識和謀略，使智慧人聽見，增長學問，使聰明人得着智謀，

智慧人的勸戒，在順從的人耳中，好像金耳環和精金的妝飾。
