王弗聽、有少者、與王年相若、侍於王側、王與之議、

王不從老者之謀、乃與侍其前、偕己同長之少者議、曰、

But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.

But Rehoboam didn’t accept the advice the elders gave him. Instead, he asked for advice from the young men. They had grown up with him and were now serving him.

But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.

你要受教听劝，以便得到智慧。

罗波安却没有采纳老臣的意见。他又去征询那些和他一起长大的青年臣僚的意见，

你们漠视我的劝诫，不接受我的责备。

因此，耶和华向亚玛谢发怒，祂派一个先知去见他，说：“这些神明既然不能从你手中救自己的人民，你为什么还要祭拜它们呢？”先知的话还没有说完，王就打断他，说：“住口！谁立你做王的谋士了？你要自取灭亡吗？”先知停了一下，又说：“我知道上帝已定意要毁灭你，因为你做了这事，不听我的忠告。”

不接受我的劝诫，又藐视我的责备。

智者的心引导他走正路，愚人的心带领他入歧途。愚人走路时也无知，并向众人显出他的愚昧。

为使人认识智慧和教诲，领悟真知灼见；为使人接受劝诫，为人处事仁义、公平、正直；使愚昧人明智，使青年有知识和明辨力；使智者听了长学问，明哲听了得指引；

对受教者而言，智者的责备犹如金耳环和金饰物。
