“ Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”

“ Your father put a heavy load on our shoulders. But now make our hard work easier. Make the heavy load on us lighter. Then we’ll serve you.”

“ Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke on us, and we will serve you.”

“ Your father was a hard master,” they said.“ Lighten the harsh labor demands and heavy taxes that your father imposed on us. Then we will be your loyal subjects.”

“ Your father made our yoke harsh. You, therefore, lighten your father’s harsh service and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”

“ Your father made our yoke hard; but now, lighten the hard labor imposed by your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you.”

他說：『那要管理你們、的王、其制度是這樣：他必取你們的兒子，派他們為他趕車，做他的馬兵，在他的車前奔走。他必派他們做他的千夫長、五十夫長，犂他所當犂的田，收割他所可收割的，製造他的戰器和車上的器械。他也必取你們的女兒做豫備香物者、做廚子和烤餅的人。他必取你們最好的田地、最好的葡萄園、橄欖園，賜給他的臣僕。你們撒種結的籽粒、和你們的葡萄園所出的、他都要抽取十分之一、去賜給他的內侍和臣僕。他也必取你們的奴僕婢女、你們最好的牛和驢、去作他的工。你們的羊羣、他也要抽取十分之一；你們本身呢、也必做他的奴僕。到那日子你們就會因所選的王而哀叫，到那日子永恆主卻不應允你們。』

所羅門有十二個大官管理全以色列；他們為王和王的家豫備食物；一年之中每月由一人豫備食物。

以下這一段是記載所羅門王為了建造永恆主的殿、和王自己的宮室、跟米羅、耶路撒冷的城牆、夏瑣、米吉多和基色、而徵派苦工人的事。

『你父親使我們的軛很難負；你呢，現在你使你父親那令人很難作的苦工、和他所加在我們身上的重軛、輕鬆些吧，我們就服事你。』羅波安對他們說：『你們第三天再來見我。』眾民就去了。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們要負我的軛來跟我學，你們心裏就可得安歇。因為我的軛是好負的，我的擔子是輕省的。』

他們把沉重的擔子捆好了，擱在人的肩膀上；自己呢、卻不肯用一根指頭去動它。

猶大人和以色列人很多，就像海邊的沙那麼多；他們都有的喫，有的喝，也都很快樂。所羅門統治諸國、從大河到非利士人之地、直到埃及的邊界；儘所羅門活着的日子、這些國都進貢他、服事他。所羅門一天所用的食物是細麵三十歌珥、粗麵六十歌珥、肥牛十隻，牧場的牛二十隻、羊一百隻，還有鹿、瞪羚羊、麅子，和肥禽。因為是他做大官在管理大河西邊全地、從提弗薩直到迦薩，他在管理大河西邊的諸王；在他周圍四方他都得享太平。儘所羅門在世的日子、猶大人和以色列人、從但到別是巴、各都在自己的葡萄樹下和無花果樹下安然居住。

但是以色列人呢、所羅門卻沒有使他們當奴隸；他們乃是戰士，乃是他的臣僕、軍長、軍官、和車兵長馬兵長。以下這些人是監管所羅門的工作的官長，五百五十個，就是管理作工的人的。
