But this word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God:

But a message from God came to Shemaiah. He was a man of God. God said to him,

But a revelation from God came to Shemaiah, the man of God:

But the LORD told Shemaiah the prophet,

The woman said to Elijah,“ Now I know that you are a prophet and that the LORD really does speak through you.”

He said,“ About this time next year you will be holding a son.” She said,“ No, my master! O prophet, do not lie to your servant!”

Shemaiah the prophet visited Rehoboam and the leaders of Judah who were assembled in Jerusalem because of Shishak. He said to them,“ This is what the LORD says:‘ You have rejected me, so I have rejected you and will hand you over to Shishak.’”The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said,“ The LORD is just.”When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, he gave this message to Shemaiah:“ They have humbled themselves, so I will not destroy them. I will deliver them soon. My anger will not be unleashed against Jerusalem through Shishak.

But when she reached the prophet on the mountain, she grabbed hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to push her away, but the prophet said,“ Leave her alone, for she is very upset. The LORD has kept the matter hidden from me; he didn’t tell me about it.”

This is the blessing Moses the man of God pronounced upon the Israelites before his death.

But you, as a person dedicated to God, keep away from all that. Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.

Just then a prophet from Judah, sent by the LORD, arrived in Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing near the altar ready to offer a sacrifice.

She asked Elijah,“ Why, prophet, have you come to me to confront me with my sin and kill my son?”

So she went to visit the prophet at Mount Carmel. When he saw her at a distance, he said to his servant Gehazi,“ Look, it’s the Shunammite woman.

She called to her husband,“ Send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, so I can go see the prophet quickly and then return.”

When the king heard what the prophet cried out against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam, standing at the altar, extended his hand and ordered,“ Seize him!” The hand he had extended shriveled up and he could not pull it back.The altar split open and the ashes fell from the altar to the ground, in fulfillment of the sign the prophet had announced with the LORD’s authority.

Now there was an old prophet living in Bethel. When his sons came home, they told their father everything the prophet had done in Bethel that day and all the words he had spoken to the king.
