反而照少年人出的主意對眾民說：『我父親使你們負的軛很重，我卻要加重你們的軛呢；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我卻要用蠍子鞭責打你們呢。』

依少者之謀、告之曰、我父使爾負重軛、我必益之、我父責爾以鞭、我則責爾以蠍、

乃循少者之謀、謂民曰、我父使爾負重軛、我必使爾負尤重之軛、我父以鞭責爾、我必以蠍責爾、

and spoke to them according to the young men’s advice:“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with barbed whips.”

There is no straw given to your servants, and they say to us,‘ Make brick!’ And indeed your servants are beaten, but the fault is in your own people.”But he said,“ You are idle! Idle! Therefore you say,‘ Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’Therefore go now and work; for no straw shall be given you, yet you shall deliver the quota of bricks.”

Then the young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying,“ Thus you should speak to this people who have spoken to you, saying,‘ Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter on us’— thus you shall say to them:‘ My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s waist!And now, whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!’”

The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

Thus there will be excessive contempt and wrath.If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she.When the king’s decree which he will make is proclaimed throughout all his empire( for it is great), all wives will honor their husbands, both great and small.”And the reply pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan.

Then the king’s servants who attended him said:“ Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king;and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to Shushan the citadel, into the women’s quarters, under the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, custodian of the women. And let beauty preparations be given them.Then let the young woman who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.” This thing pleased the king, and he did so.

Surely the princes of Zoan are fools; Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel. How do you say to Pharaoh,“ I am the son of the wise, The son of ancient kings?”Where are they? Where are your wise men? Let them tell you now, And let them know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt.The princes of Zoan have become fools; The princes of Noph are deceived; They have also deluded Egypt, Those who are the mainstay of its tribes.

The thoughts of the righteous are right, But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
