有蝗蟲從煙中出來，到了地上；牠們被賜予了能力，就像地上的蠍子所具有的能力那樣。有話吩咐牠們不可傷害地上的草、任何綠色植物、任何樹木，只可傷害那些額上沒有神印記的人；可是不准許殺死這些人，只可使他們受折磨五個月。他們所受的折磨，就像人被蠍子螫到時的折磨那樣。在那些日子裡，人們將會求死，卻絕不得死；他們渴望死，死卻逃避他們。這些蝗蟲的樣式彷彿是所預備好的要出戰的馬。牠們的頭上像有類似金子的冠冕；牠們的臉面像人的臉面；牠們有頭髮像女人的頭髮；牠們的牙齒像獅子的牙齒；牠們有護胸甲像鐵甲；牠們翅膀的聲音像許多馬匹的戰車奔馳出戰的聲音；牠們有尾巴彷彿蠍子，又有毒刺，牠們的威力在牠們的尾巴上，可以傷害人五個月。
