「『我要的禁食是，除去罪惡的鎖鏈，解開軛上的繩索，折斷一切的軛，使受欺壓的人得到自由，

人子啊，不要怕他們和他們的話，雖然你周圍佈滿荊棘和毒蠍，也不要害怕。他們是一群叛逆的人，你不要怕他們的話，也不要因為他們的臉色而驚慌。

於是，埃及人更殘酷地奴役他們，強迫他們和泥造磚，並做田間一切的苦工，使他們痛苦不堪。

法老又說：「這地方的以色列人如此眾多，你竟叫他們停止工作！」當天，法老就對埃及監工和以色列人的工頭下令：「從今天開始，不許再供應草給他們製磚，叫他們自己去撿，但上交的磚的數量要和往常一樣，一塊也不可少。因為他們懶惰，所以才嚷著要去給他們的上帝獻祭。你們要加重他們的工作，他們就無暇再聽那些蠱惑人心的話了！」

但如果哪一國肯負巴比倫王的軛，臣服於他，我必使那國的人們留在本國，安居樂業。這是耶和華說的。』」

有蝗蟲從煙裡飛出來，落到地上，有地上蠍子的能力賜給牠們。牠們得到命令，不得毀壞地上的青草、樹木和其他植物，只傷害額上沒有上帝印記的人，但不可殺死他們，只折磨他們五個月。那種折磨就像被蠍子蟄到一樣。那時候，人求死，卻求不到；想死，死卻躲避他們。那些蝗蟲好像預備出征的戰馬一樣，頭上好像戴了金冠，面孔好像人臉，毛髮好像女人的頭髮，牙齒好像獅子的牙，胸前有甲，如同鐵甲，鼓動翅膀時聲音如同千軍萬馬奔赴戰場。牠們像蠍子一樣尾巴上有毒鉤，可以折磨人五個月。

回去繼續工作！我不再供應草給你們，但磚要如數交齊。」

「你去告訴哈拿尼雅，耶和華說，『你折斷了木軛，卻要換來鐵軛。我要把鐵軛放在所有這些國家的頸上，他們都要臣服於巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，連田野的走獸也要交給他管轄。』這是以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說的。」
