那时，所罗门为摩押可憎的基抹和亚扪人可憎的摩洛，在耶路撒冷对面的山上建造丘坛。

从前以色列王所罗门在耶路撒冷东边、邪僻山南边为西顿人可憎的亚斯她录、摩押人可憎的基抹、亚扪人可憎的米勒公所筑的丘坛，王都玷污了，

因为他们离弃我，敬拜西顿人的女神亚斯她录、摩押的神明基抹和亚扪人的神明米勒公，没有像他父亲大卫一样遵从我的道，行我眼中看为正的事，守我的律例典章。

撒母耳对以色列全家说：“你们若全心回转归向耶和华，就要从你们中间除掉外邦的神明和亚斯她录，预备你们的心归向耶和华，单单事奉他，他必救你们脱离非利士人的手。”以色列人就除掉诸巴力和亚斯她录，单单事奉耶和华。

以色列人又行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，去事奉诸巴力和亚斯她录，以及亚兰的神明、西顿的神明、摩押的神明、亚扪人的神明、非利士人的神明。他们离弃耶和华，不事奉他。

不可使你儿女经火献给摩洛，也不可亵渎你上帝的名。我是耶和华。

“你要对以色列人说：凡以色列人，或是寄居在以色列的外人，把自己儿女献给摩洛的，必被处死；本地的百姓要用石头打死他。我也要向那人变脸，把他从百姓中剪除，因为他把儿女献给摩洛，玷污了我的圣所，亵渎了我的圣名。那人把儿女献给摩洛，本地的百姓若假装没看见，不把他处死，我就要向这人和他的家人变脸，把他和所有跟随他与摩洛行淫的人都从百姓中剪除。

他们呼求耶和华说：‘我们离弃了耶和华去事奉诸巴力和亚斯她录，我们有罪了。现在求你救我们脱离仇敌的手，我们必事奉你。’

还有那些在屋顶拜天上万象的，那些敬拜耶和华指着他起誓，却又指着米勒公起誓的；

你们且渡到基提海岛察看，派人往基达去留心查考，看可曾有过这样的事。岂有一国换了它的神明吗？其实那不是神明！但我的百姓将他们的荣耀换了那无益的东西。诸天哪，要因此震惊，颤栗，极其凄凉！这是耶和华说的。因为我的百姓做了两件恶事：离弃我这活水的泉源；又为自己凿出水池，却是破裂不能储水的池子。”
