For it came to pass, when Solomon was old,[ that] his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as[ was] the heart of David his father.

As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as[ did] David his father.

Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king’s house,

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa’s heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

And he did[ that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

And he did[ that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined[ neither] to the right hand, nor to the left.

And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all[ these things], and to build the palace,[ for] the which I have made provision.

And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do[ that is] right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done[ that which is] good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam[ was] forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name[ was] Naamah an Ammonitess.

And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which[ is] the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.

[ Concerning] this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought[ that which was] good and right and truth before the LORD his God.And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did[ it] with all his heart, and prospered.

And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel[ was] forty years.

Of the nations[ concerning] which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you:[ for] surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
