As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

As Solomon grew older, his wives turned his heart toward other gods. He didn’t follow the Lord his God with all his heart. So he wasn’t like his father David.

我子所羅門歟、當識爾父之上帝、盡心樂意以事之、蓋耶和華鑒察眾心、洞悉意想、爾若尋之、則必遇之、爾若棄之、彼必永久棄爾、

耶和華偕之、緣循厥祖大衛始初之道、不求巴力、

惟崇邱未廢、然亞撒畢生、專心於耶和華、

亞瑪謝行耶和華所悅、惟心不專、

彼必誘爾子、不從耶和華、而事他神、致耶和華震怒、滅爾甚速、

行耶和華所悅、循其祖大衛之道、不偏左右、

亞比央從其父所行諸罪、不效厥祖大衛、專心於其上帝耶和華、

俾我子所羅門、盡心守爾誡命、法度典章、成此諸事、以我所備者建造殿宇、○

爾若聽我所命、從我之道、行我所悅、守我典章誡命、如我僕大衛所為、我必偕爾、為爾建鞏固之家室、如為大衛所建、且以以色列族畀爾、

耶和華歟、求爾垂念、我在爾前、行為誠實、心志專一、行爾所悅、遂哭甚哀、

所羅門子羅波安為猶大王、即位時、年四十有一、在耶路撒冷為王、歷十七年、耶路撒冷即耶和華自以色列諸支派中、所簡以為寄名之所、羅波安母名拿瑪、亞捫女也、

以色列族出埃及後、四百八十年、所羅門在位之四年、西弗月、即二月、始建耶和華室、

毋多置妃嬪、恐致心偏、毋廣積金銀、

論爾所建之室、如爾循我典章、守我律例、遵我誡命而行、則我與爾父大衛所言者、必成之於爾、亦必居以色列中、不棄我民以色列、○

希西家在猶大全地、如是而行、為其上帝耶和華所視為善、為正為忠者、凡其所行、或供上帝室之役、或遵律守誡、求其上帝、皆一心行之、無不亨通、
