I will humble David’s descendants because of this, but not forever.’”

I will punish David’s family because of what Solomon has done. But I will not punish them forever.’ ”

and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee; and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes,

Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, Which thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness?Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; How I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty peoples,Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;and he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
