I will take the kingdom from his son’s hands and give you ten tribes.

I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hands. And I will give you ten of the tribes.

So the king did not listen to the people; because it was a turn of events from the Lord, in order to establish His word which the Lord spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people replied to the king, saying,“ What share do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; To your tents, Israel! Now look after your own house, David!” So Israel went away to their tents.But as for the sons of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

However, I will not do it in your days, only for the sake of your father David; but I will tear it away from the hand of your son.

And it came about, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, that they sent word and called him to the assembly, and made him king over all Israel. None except the tribe of Judah alone followed the house of David.

So the king did not listen to the people, because it was a turn of events from God so that the Lord might establish His word, which He spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people replied to the king, saying,“ What share do we have in David? You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, inflicting the punishment of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,but showing favor to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
