Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command.

He had commanded Solomon not to worship other gods. But Solomon didn’t obey the Lord.

如爾遵從我命、守我禮儀法度、於爾父大闢、是則是效、我必鞏固爾國、昔我許爾父大闢、不絕其嗣、以繼以色列國位、今必踐其前言。如爾背逆、棄所命之禮儀禁令、奉事他上帝、我必拔斯民之根株、驅於所錫之地、我所成聖之殿、為籲我名之所者、必廢、使兆民作歌譏刺。凡過此有名之殿宇、必駭異、如有詢及者曰、耶和華燬此殿、害此國也、曷故。則必曰、昔上帝耶和華導其列祖、出於埃及、彼乃違逆、反簡他上帝、奉事崇拜、故耶和華降以是災。

如爾循我禮儀、守我法度禁令、則昔所許爾父大闢者、我必踐言、爾所建之殿、我必居處、不厭棄我以色列族之民。

如爾誠心實意、遵從我命、守我禮儀法度、於爾父大闢是則是效、我必鞏固以色列國、俾爾國祚恆久弗替、昔我許爾父大闢、不絶其嗣、以繼以色列國位、今必踐其前言。如爾及子孫、背逆乎我、不守所命之禮儀禁令、奉事他上帝、我將於所賜之地、殲滅以色列族、我所成聖之殿、為籲名之所者必毀、使以色列族為兆民作歌譏刺。
