Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command.

He had commanded Solomon not to worship other gods. But Solomon didn’t obey the Lord.

如爾於我前、行止法爾父大衛、行我所諭爾之命、守我律例法度、則我必鞏固爾國位、昔我與爾父大衛立約曰、爾嗣必繼爾治以色列民、永遠不絕、我必踐其言、如爾曹背逆、棄我所賜爾之律例誡命、往而奉事崇拜他神、則我必拔斯民之根株、驅於我所賜之之地、且擯棄我為我名所區別為聖之殿、使萬民作歌譏刺、此殿今雖崇高、凡過之者必驚訝問曰、主如是行於斯地與斯殿何故、則必曰、緣斯民棄主其列祖之天主、導之出伊及地者、親暱他神、奉事崇拜、故主降以是災、

爾建此殿、如爾遵行我之律例法度、遵行謹守我一切誡命、則昔所許爾父大衛之言、我必踐之、我必居於以色列人中、不擯棄我民以色列、○

如爾法爾父大衛、誠心實意、行於我前、遵我所諭爾之命、守我律例法度、則我必鞏固爾國位在以色列人中、至於永遠、昔我許爾父大衛曰、爾嗣必繼爾坐以色列國位、永遠不絕、我必踐其言、如爾及爾子孫背逆我、不守我所賜爾之誡命律例、往而奉事崇拜他神、則我將於所賜之地、翦滅以色列人、必擯棄為我名所區別為聖之殿、使以色列人為萬民作歌譏刺、
