Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command.

He had commanded Solomon not to worship other gods. But Solomon didn’t obey the Lord.

至于你，你若是在我面前行事为人像你的父亲大卫所行的那样，遵行我吩咐你的一切话，谨守我的律例和典章，我就必巩固你的国位，好像我和你父亲大卫所立的约说：‘你的子孙必不会断人作君王统治以色列。’“可是，如果你们转离我，丢弃我在你们面前颁布的律例和诫命，去事奉和敬拜别的神，我就必把以色列人从我赐给他们的土地上拔出来，并且我为自己的名分别为圣的这殿，我也必从我面前舍弃，使这殿在万民中成为笑谈和讥笑的对象。这殿虽然高大，但将来经过的人，都必惊讶，说：‘耶和华为什么这样对待这地和这殿呢？’人必回答说：‘是因为这地的人离弃了耶和华他们列祖的神，就是领他们从埃及地出来的神，去亲近别的神，敬拜和事奉他们；所以，耶和华使这一切灾祸临到他们。’”

“关于你正在建造的这殿，如果你遵行我的律例，实行我的典章，谨守我的一切诫命，并且照着去行，我就必向你实现我应许你父亲大卫的话。我必住在以色列人中间，也必不离弃我的子民以色列。”

至于你，如果你像你父亲大卫那样，存诚实和正直的心在我面前行事为人，遵行我一切所吩咐你的，谨守我的律例和典章，我就必坚固你统治以色列的国位，直到永远，正如我应许你父亲大卫说：‘你的子孙，总不断有人坐以色列的王位。你们或是你们的子孙，若是转去不跟从我，不遵守我赐给你们的诫命和律例，去事奉别的神，敬拜他们，我就必把以色列人从我赐给他们的这地上剪除，甚至为自己的名分别为圣的这殿，我也必从我面前把它丢弃不顾，使以色列人在万族中成为笑谈和讥笑的对象。
