So that they may keep you from an adulteress, From the foreigner who flatters with her words.

To rescue you from the strange woman, From the foreign woman who flatters with her words,

Now Solomon formed a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter and brought her to the city of David until he had finished building his own house and the house of the Lord, and the wall around Jerusalem.

In those days I also saw that the Jews had married women from Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.As for their children, half spoke in the language of Ashdod, and none of them knew how to speak the language of Judah, but only the language of his own people.So I quarreled with them and cursed them, and struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God,“ You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take any of their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.Did Solomon the king of Israel not sin regarding these things? Yet among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet the foreign women caused even him to sin.Has it not then been reported about you that you have committed all this great evil by acting unfaithfully against our God, by marrying foreign women?”

To keep you from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the foreign woman.

The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; He who is cursed of the Lord will fall into it.

Keep your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house,Otherwise you will give your vigor to others, And your years to the cruel one;And strangers will be filled with your strength, And your hard earned possessions will go to the house of a foreigner;And you will groan in the end, When your flesh and your body are consumed;And you say,“ How I hated instruction! And my heart disdainfully rejected rebuke!I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, Nor incline my ear to my instructors!I was almost in total ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”Drink water from your own cistern, And fresh water from your own well.Should your springs overflow into the street, Streams of water in the public squares?Let them be yours alone, And not for strangers with you.Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth.Like a loving doe and a graceful mountain goat, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress, And embrace the breasts of a foreigner?

He also did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

Your eyes will see strange things And your mind will say perverse things.

And you shall not marry a woman in addition to her sister as a second wife while she is alive, to uncover her nakedness.

that the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.Then the Lord said,“ My Spirit will not remain with man forever, because he is also flesh; nevertheless his days shall be 120 years.”The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of mankind, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually.
