Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying in En Rogel. A female servant would go and inform them, and they would then go and inform King David. It was not advisable for them to be seen going into the city.

Now two hundred men had gone with Absalom from Jerusalem. Since they were invited, they went naively and were unaware of what Absalom was planning.While he was offering sacrifices, Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s adviser, to come from his city, Giloh. The conspiracy was gaining momentum, and the people were starting to side with Absalom.

It then went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, turning northward to Gilgal( which is opposite the Pass of Adummim south of the valley), crossed to the waters of En Shemesh and extended to En Rogel.

The LORD abhors the sacrifices of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

We shouldn’t burden you in that way.” Though Absalom pressed him, the king was not willing to go. Instead, David blessed him.Then Absalom said,“ If you will not go, then let my brother Amnon go with us.” The king replied to him,“ Why should he go with you?”But when Absalom pressed him, he sent Amnon and all the king’s sons along with him.
