那时，约拿单和亚希玛斯停留在隐‧罗结，他们不敢进城，怕被人看见。有一个婢女经常出来，把话告诉他们，然后他们再去告诉大卫王。

有二百人从耶路撒冷应邀与押沙龙同去。他们都是诚诚实实地去，对内情一点也不知道。押沙龙献祭的时候，差派人去把大卫的参谋基罗人亚希多弗从他的本城基罗请来。于是叛乱的势力越来越大，跟随押沙龙的人民也越来越多。

又从亚割谷上到底璧，再北转到河的南边亚都冥山坡对面的吉甲去；又经过隐．示麦水泉，直通到隐．罗结；

恶人的祭物是耶和华厌恶的；正直人的祷告却是他所喜悦的。

两年以后，在以法莲边界的巴力‧夏琐，押沙龙雇了人为他剪羊毛，押沙龙邀请王所有的儿子到那里去。押沙龙去见王说：“看哪！现在你的仆人雇了人剪羊毛；请王和王的臣仆与我一同去。”王对押沙龙说：“不！我儿，我们不必都去，免得我们成为你的重担。”押沙龙再三勉强王去，王还是不肯去，只是为他祝福。押沙龙说：“王若是不去，求王让我的哥哥暗嫩与我一同去。”王问他：“为什么要他与你一同去呢？”押沙龙再三求王，王就派暗嫩和王所有的儿子与他一同去。
