Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

Joab replied,“ Far be it, far be it from me that I would consume or destroy!Such is not the case. and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were chiefs at the king’s side.
