Solomon son of David strengthened his hold on his kingdom. The Lord his God was with him and highly exalted him.

May his name endure forever; as long as the sun shines, may his fame increase. After they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.” So Elisha answered,“ Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit.”

Then David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the Lord’s house is finished.

He answered,“ I will certainly be with you, and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship God at this mountain.”

May he rule from sea to sea and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.

He was given authority to rule, and glory, and a kingdom; so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name Him Immanuel, which is translated“ God is with us.”
