So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his rule was firmly established. (niv)

“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” (niv)

When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon king over Israel. (niv)

Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice. (niv)

“ Yet the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me from my whole family to be king over Israel forever. He chose Judah as leader, and from the tribe of Judah he chose my family, and from my father’s sons he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.Of all my sons— and the Lord has given me many— he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel. She said to him,“ My lord, you yourself swore to me your servant by the Lord your God:‘ Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne.’ (niv)

“ As you know,” he said,“ the kingdom was mine. All Israel looked to me as their king. But things changed, and the kingdom has gone to my brother; for it has come to him from the Lord. (niv)
